Denny Salas

Denny Salas is Senior Vice President at Gotham Government Relations, recently recognized in City & State's Magazine as a Who's Who In Government Relations in the State of New York and one of New York's Top 100 Latino Leaders in Politics & Government. Denny has also been recognized as a Manhattan Power Player by Schneps Media. 

Over the course of his career, he has been a stockbroker, a Legislative Researcher on Capitol Hill, a Washington D.C. Political Consultant to members of the United States Congress, a Government Affairs/Political Action Committee Manager for Small Business Manufacturing, a Grant Writer/Development Officer at a Charter School, and a Political Candidate for local office.

Career 

Denny recently ran for New York State Assembly, where he was supported by REBNY, The Building & Construction Trades Council, DC9 of the Int’l Union of Painters & Allied Trades, Sheet Metal Workers Local 28, LiUNA-NY, Steamfitters Local 638, Teamsters Local 237, NYPD Captains Endowment Assoc., NYPD Detectives’ Endowment Assoc., NYPD Lieutenants Benevolent Assoc., NYPD Sergeants’ Benevolent Assoc., United Democratic Organization, Hon. Alan Gerson, Hon. Justin Yu, Lands End II Resident Assoc., Asian Wave Alliance, Student First NY, Democrats for Education Reform, Great Public Schools, New Yorkers for Safer Streets, & Place NY.

Prior to seeking office, he was a development officer at a charter school in the Bronx. He used his intergovernmental and fundraising skills to raise $1.5 million and successfully introduced modern afterschool programming to a student body populated by 80% living below the poverty line.

Before moving to New York City, he lived in Washington, D.C., where he represented small business manufacturing companies to Federal agencies and elected officials and ran the recreational boating industry’s trade association’s political action committee.

As a Washington, D.C. Political Consultant, his clients included U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (MD), U.S. Congressman Adam Schiff (CA), U.S. Congressman Mike Quigley (IL), U.S. Congresswoman Diana DeGette (CO), U.S. Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz (PA), U.S. Congressman Elliot Engel (NY), U.S. Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy (NY), U.S. Congressman Mike Capuano (MA), U.S. Congressman John Olver (MA), U.S. Congressman Heath Shuler (NC), U.S. Congressman Larry Kissell (NC), & McKesson Specialty Health.

Denny began his professional career as a stockbroker before departing that role to join President Obama’s political organization, Organizing for America, where he was a Field Organizer fighting to support the president’s first-year agenda. Upon completing that stint, he reached Capitol Hill, working for U.S. Congressman John Tierney (MA).

He currently serves as Vice Chair of New York City's Department of Youth & Community Development's Neighborhood Advisory Board, and recently served on the Board for NYPD’s 7th Precinct as their Recording Secretary & Political Liaison. Additionally, Denny serves as First Vice-President for Lower Manhattan’s United Democratic Organization (UDO), founded by Virginia Kee and led by Chung Seto.

He's also an Ethics Committee member, Judicial Delegate, and County Committee member for the Manhattan Democratic Party. 

He lives in New York City with his wife, daughter, and two dachshunds.
